Los Angeles, Oct 24 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Keira Knightley has made the decision to ban social media at home to shield her young children from the frightening realities of the online world.

The 40-year-old star is the mother of two daughters, Edie, age nine, and Delilah, age five, with her spouse, James Righton.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4, she expressed, "I find it extremely terrifying because these platforms are unregulated spaces, and I want to keep my children safe from them. Therefore, in our household, we adhere to a strict no social media policy. If we can’t monitor what they’re viewing, they simply can’t use the devices.”

“I’m uncertain how long I can maintain this approach,” she added, reflecting on the challenges of parenting in the digital age.

The actress remarked that many parents at her children's school share similar concerns, according to reports from fealefirst.co.uk.

She elaborated, “During play dates, we discuss what we allow our kids to see and what we don’t. It’s reassuring to have a community of parents who can engage in these discussions, although this isn’t universal.”

“In our particular year group, this practice appears more common, but it could vary across different year groups. I would greatly appreciate some form of regulation to alleviate this burden from parents,” she concluded.

Additionally, Knightley disclosed that she was unaware of the boycott surrounding Audible’s Harry Potter series before she agreed to voice Dolores Umbridge. Some fans have chosen to avoid the project in protest against author J.K. Rowling’s perceived anti-trans views.

When asked about the boycott, Keira told Decider, “I had no knowledge of that, and I sincerely apologize.”

She believes it’s crucial for individuals to “cultivate respect” for one another, despite having diverse opinions.

“We’re currently in a time where we all need to learn how to coexist, aren’t we? We have vastly different perspectives, and I hope we can all achieve mutual respect,” she stated.
