Los Angeles, June 14 (NationPress) Singer-actress Keke Palmer has unveiled the story behind her son’s name. The actress mentioned that her former boyfriend “invented” their son’s name.
The 31-year-old actress, known by her birth name Lauren Keyana, welcomed Leodis with her ex-partner Darius Jackson in February 2023. She noted that the former NFL player desired the name to reflect a mix of both their names, according to reports from ‘Female First UK’.
During her appearance on Scott Evans' House Guest podcast, she shared, “Darius actually created his name. He wanted both our names, which is so wild. So yeah, that was him trying to blend Darius and Lauren, like Leodis; it was just a lot, but I said, ‘Hey, let’s go for it’. It’s adorable.”
The former Nickelodeon star humorously commented that “anything went” during her pregnancy, and she started to appreciate how the name seemed to carry a sense of historical significance.
She further expressed, “I was pregnant; anything went. It’s adorable, ... and also it sounded like an old name. He seemed like he was marching with (Martin Luther King Jr.). It’s like Leodis Andrellton Jackson. He’s going to be on someone’s campaign.”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Keke separated from Darius in October 2023, obtaining a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him over allegations of “physical and emotional abuse”. However, she recently expressed her gratitude that they can co-parent their son.
In a discussion on 'CBS Mornings', she told host Gayle King, “I have to be honest; I never thought I would be where I am now, and I’m very grateful that this has been the outcome. We have been able to coexist this way and show up for our son, which is a real blessing.”
