Mumbai, April 25 (NationPress) The action-packed thriller 'Shadow Force', featuring Kerry Washington, is set to hit Indian theaters on May 9.

This intense narrative revolves around love, sacrifice, and survival. Directed and co-penned by Joe Carnahan (known for The Grey, Copshop, and The A-Team), in collaboration with co-writer Leon Chills, the film delves into the lengths two elite assassins will go to protect their family.

The storyline follows Kyrah and Issac Sarr, former operatives of a secretive global assassins' group called “Shadow Force”. After breaking the rules by falling in love and leaving the unit to build a family, they find themselves fugitives with a $25 million bounty on their heads.

Joining this dynamic cast are Omar Sy (Lupin, The Intouchables), Mark Strong (1917, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers, Dolemite is My Name), Cliff “Method Man” Smith (Power Book II: Ghost, Godfather of Harlem), and Jahleel Kamara (Rise, Nanny).

Regarding Washington's role, Pilar Savone, Washington’s producing partner at Simpson Street, remarked, “It was an obvious choice for her to star in this film.” She continued, “Her entire team was captivated by the story and wanted to see her embody this fierce, strong, badass action star. She’s been a badass since Olivia Pope in Scandal, but she’s never taken on an action star role.”

The last time Washington appeared in an action film was in 2005’s 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'. “I had a blast on that film, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to pursue if I had the time or opportunity,” she shared.

However, it wasn’t merely the chance to portray a badass character that attracted Washington to this specific narrative, but also how its themes resonated profoundly with her artistic mission.

“I’ve engaged in numerous projects centered around the significance of Black life and the challenges of Black parenting, particularly Black motherhood. So, I thought, how wonderful that this film focuses on protecting and saving a Black boy,” she concluded.
