Mumbai, April 11 (NationPress) The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has joined as co-producers for the upcoming directorial project “Tanvi The Great” by renowned actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher.
Reflecting on this collaboration, the esteemed actor, who steps back into the director's role after nearly two decades, stated: “Tanvi The Great is a labour of love, crafted with the finest talent in cinema. Having NFDC as a co-producer strengthens our journey in bringing this powerful story to audiences worldwide.”
The NFDC is known for its previous productions, including “Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron,” “Mirch Masala,” “The Making of Mahatma,” “Salaam Bombay,” and “Qissa”, among others.
According to sources, the film draws inspiration from a special child within the septuagenarian's family.
“The girl is as gritty as Tanvi, the lead character in the film. Despite being a special child, Tanvi aspires to unfurl the tricolour on mountain peaks and serve in the Indian army. Anupam, portraying her grandfather, supports her on this journey of resilience,” the source added.
This project marks Anupam’s second directorial venture, following “Om Jai Jagdish”, which featured Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan and was released in 2002.
Prithul Kumar, Managing Director of NFDC and Joint Secretary (Broadcasting-II) at the I&B Ministry, remarked: “NFDC is proud to co-produce Tanvi The Great, a film that beautifully celebrates resilience and the transformative power of storytelling. Under Anupam Kher's direction, this deeply moving narrative unfolds with brilliance.”
The film's technical team includes Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, recognized for his work on RRR, and Academy Award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty. The musical sequences are choreographed by National Award-winning choreographer Kruti Mahesh.
On April 10, Anupam vowed to gift his mother, Dulari, a house in Srinagar, Kashmir, if ‘Tanvi The Great’ surpasses the Rs.100 crore mark at the box office.
He shared a heartfelt video on his Instagram, capturing a conversation with his mother, Dulari, where he humorously asked about the film’s success.
In a playful exchange, he asked, “Will it work?” to which his mother responded, “The film is good, it will work, and the music is great too.”
Anupam then made a touching promise: “If the film does Rs.100 crore business, I will build a house for you in Srinagar.”
He further asked, “Why will the film be loved?” Dulari smiled and said, “It’s a different film, showing the struggles of a girl. This will do very well.”
