Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) - The comedy saga of Kunal Kamra took a significant turn on Wednesday when T-Series issued a copyright claim regarding the usage of the song 'Bholi Si Surat Aankhon Masti' from the film ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’.

Kamra shared a screenshot of the copyright notice on his X account, criticizing T-Series by stating, “Hello @TSeries, stop being a stooge. Parody & Satire falls under fair use legally. I haven’t utilized the lyrics or the original instrumental. If this video is removed, it sets a precedent for every cover song or dance video to be taken down. Creators, take note! Furthermore, monopolies in India resemble Mafia. So, please watch/download this special before it’s removed. P.S. - T-Series, I’m based in Tamil Nadu.”

For those unaware, comedian Kunal Kamra recently held a show at Habitat Studio in Mumbai, where he performed a parody song and labeled Maharashtra's Deputy CM, Eknath Shinde, as a 'Gaddar' (traitor).

The situation escalated when Kamra posted the video on his X account.

While leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress voiced their support for Kamra, the Shinde-led faction criticized the act and retaliated by vandalizing Habitat Studio.

In light of these events, the Mumbai Police summoned Kamra on Tuesday to provide his statement regarding the case against him. A team from Khar police station delivered the summons to his Mumbai residence, where his parents live. However, since Kamra is currently outside Mumbai, the summons was sent via WhatsApp.

On Tuesday, Kangana Ranaut also weighed in on Kamra’s comments, stating, “The way he ridiculed me and made light of the illegal incident I faced is concerning. I won’t link this incident to mine. A person in power’s dignity is paramount, and mocking him in the name of comedy is disrespectful. Shinde ji’s journey from a rickshaw driver to his current position is commendable.”
