Mumbai, Feb 14 (NationPress) The streaming service JioStar, a new joint venture resulting from the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, officially unveiled JioHotstar this morning, effectively merging the streaming giants JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.

The newly established platform boasts nearly 3 lakh hours of entertainment, live sports broadcasts, and a user base exceeding 50 crore, as stated in their announcement.

“The foundation of JioHotstar is a robust vision—making premium entertainment genuinely available to all Indians. Our commitment to Infinite Possibilities ensures that entertainment becomes a shared experience, not just a privilege. By utilizing AI-powered recommendations and providing content in over 19 languages, we are personalizing the viewing experience like never before,” stated Kiran Mani, CEO – Digital, JioStar, during the launch of JioHotstar.

JioHotstar offers subscription plans that cater to a variety of audience preferences, starting at just Rs. 149 per quarter. Current subscribers of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar can easily transition to JioHotstar without hassle.

The platform will feature an extensive collection of Hollywood content, incorporating titles from Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount, all accessible on one platform. Furthermore, it launches ‘Sparks’, a signature initiative that highlights India’s top digital creators through creative and engaging formats.
