New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) Choreographer-dancer Lauren Gottlieb, who stepped into Hindi cinema in 2013 with “ABCD: Any Body Can Dance,” shared that her initiation into Bollywood was a significant learning journey as she was ill-prepared for the industry's distinct pace, demands, and culture.
When asked about the most valuable lesson she learned that no one had prepared her for, Lauren told IANS: “Specifically in Bollywood, the biggest lesson was understanding just how much I was unaware of upon entering.”
She elaborated, “The inexperience—not only in performance but also in grasping how the industry and India functioned—was truly an eye-opener. I was clueless about who the key players were, how schedules operated, what was expected of me, and where to assert myself versus where to exercise restraint.”
Lauren continued, “The hours are extensive, shoots often extend far beyond planned durations, and there's a distinct rhythm to it that sets it apart from other fields.”
In those initial years, she frequently found herself pondering, “What’s happening here?”
However, she noted, “With time, you become more in sync with the rhythm, the procedures, and the various personalities involved. Now, I can step onto a set and think, ‘Everything is fine—it will get accomplished,’ because I have adapted to its flow.”
She remarked, “This learning curve is likely relevant to many individuals in their respective fields—you must experience it to truly understand it.”
Looking ahead, Lauren has choreographed and performed for the track “Who Rules The World” from “The Royals.” The series features Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, and Luke Kenny.
This upcoming series is set to debut on May 9 on Netflix, showcasing Bhumi as the ambitious and spirited CEO of Work Potato, Sophia Shekhar, alongside Ishaan as Aviraaj Singh, the charming party prince.
