New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) Actress and dancer Lauren Gottlieb, renowned for her work on the track “Who Rules The World” from “The Royals”, shared that her initial connection to the show was through its music.
Lauren expressed to IANS: “I first connected with The Royals through the music. I met the team at Believe, and they played me the title track, Who Rules The World. They suggested it had my name all over it—and honestly, the moment I heard it, I was like, yes, absolutely, we need to create a full music video around this. It was too epic to ignore.”
“I immediately knew I wanted to choreograph it to vividly bring the entire concept to life,” she added.
She noted that the track was composed by her close friend Harsh Upadhyay.
“We’ve been connected since my days on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa when he was primarily focused on mixing tracks for us and various other dance reality shows. Now, he’s fully dedicated to producing original music for film and television, and I’m incredibly proud of him for transitioning so beautifully,” Lauren remarked.
How has her background in dance and performance influenced her work on Who Rules The World in The Royals?
“Honestly, every project adds to this toolkit, filled with lessons, tips, tricks, and experiences that you carry forward. If you’re doing it right, each project contributes to your growth and hones your craft,” she stated.
Who Rules The World held special significance for Lauren as “I’m now at a stage where I feel confident not only in performing but also in leading the creative vision behind the scenes.”
“That dual role—choreographing, conceptualizing, and starring in it—certainly comes with more to manage, but it’s also immensely fulfilling to realize a vision from start to finish. It also allows me to be more involved with the dancers, helping train and mentor them,” Lauren, who has collaborated with artists such as Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Shakira, and Enrique Iglesias, added.
She emphasized that “I definitely didn’t do it alone”.
“This all came about because the Believe team entrusted me with their song! My co-choreographer, Anasua Chowdhury, was my right-hand partner throughout—her support, creativity, and presence were absolutely essential.”
Lauren, who starred in the 2013 Indian dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, continued: “Collaborating with our director, Raul Chavan, was such a cooperative process. We truly built the visual narrative together. I must also acknowledge our executive producers at DOT Media: Shruti Modi, Aatif Tida, Viren Arya, Justin Lawrence, and Shubham Singhal for making it all come to fruition.”
“It was a monumental team effort, and I’m incredibly grateful to have had such a powerhouse group surrounding me. The costume designers, Ayushi Ruparel and Shradha Khaire, truly brought the vision to life. The fact that they accomplished all of this in under a week is nothing short of remarkable.”
