Los Angeles, Aug 3 (NationPress) Hollywood actress-singer Lindsay Lohan has shared her thoughts on how being raised in the spotlight has led to her being typecast, limiting her ability to take on more nuanced roles.
She expressed, “Yes, I do believe I was pigeonholed. I was so excited to work on ‘A Prairie Home Companion,’ and even now, I have to constantly advocate for projects like that, which is quite frustrating. Because, while you perceive me in one way — you also know I can excel in other roles,” as reported by ‘Variety’.
In an interview with The Times U.K., she stated, “So let me! Allow me the opportunity. I need to shatter that cycle and open doors for new possibilities, leaving others with no choice. And if Martin Scorsese comes knocking, I won’t decline.”
According to ‘Variety’, Lohan began her acting career at a young age, with her breakout role in the 1998 film ‘The Parent Trap’. She gained widespread recognition through various films in the 2000s, including ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’, and ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’.
As her career flourished, the star took a brief hiatus during the 2000s. Lohan elaborated on her decision to step back from the limelight.
“I needed a moment,” she explained. “I was losing the excitement of making films, and I wanted to experience life outside of the public eye, to discover how to live a more private, authentic life. I wanted to wait until I felt that passion again.”
She has made her return to cinema and will star alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in the upcoming movie ‘Freakier Friday’. This sequel to their 2003 comedy ‘Freaky Friday’ introduces a multigenerational twist, featuring Anna (Lohan) as a mother. The film is set to hit theaters on August 8, 2025.
