Did Rasika Dugal and Gulshan Devaiah’s 'Little Thomas' Get Three Nominations at NYIFF?

Mumbai, May 13 (NationPress) Actors Rasika Dugal and Gulshan Devaiah have received recognition for their film “Little Thomas”, produced by Anurag Kashyap, with nominations in the best actor, actress, and director categories at the prestigious 25th edition of the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF).

The stars of 'Little Thomas', Rasika and Gulshan, have both secured nominations for their outstanding performances, while the film's director, Kaushal Oza, has also been honored with a nomination for his feature directorial debut.

Expressing her joy, Rasika Dugal, who portrays Jessie Miranda in 'Little Thomas', stated, "I am thrilled to be recognized for this comedy-drama, which tells the heartwarming story of a seven-year-old boy striving to unite his parents and gain a little brother."

She added, "I am thankful that our work is being acknowledged, and I eagerly await the audience's reaction during the film's screening at the festival. The discerning nature of film festival audiences makes it rewarding to receive their feedback on our efforts."

A jubilant Gulshan remarked, “I am overjoyed and grateful for the NYIFF jury's consideration for my role as Best Actor in Little Thomas. I am looking forward to the festival and sincerely hope to win the Best Actor award.”

Kaushal Oza, who previously collaborated with Kashyap on That Girl in Yellow Boots and Shaitan, shared his excitement about returning to NYIFF after the world premiere of his short film The Miniaturist of Junagadh at the same festival.

He commented, "I am over the moon that 'Little Thomas' has been nominated for Best Debut Film at the festival. The nominations for both our actors add even more joy to this achievement!"

Producers Ranjan Singh and Anurag Kashyap have even more reasons to celebrate this year, as Little Thomas and Kashyap’s directorial venture Kennedy are both featured in the festival's official lineup.

Produced under the banners of Luminoso Pictures, Civic Studios, Flip Films, and Good Bad Films, 'Little Thomas' had its world premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) last year, followed by showings at the Toronto Indian Film Festival and Chandigarh Cine-Vesture.

Set against the backdrop of 90s Goa, the film narrates the story of Thomas, an only child who longs for a younger brother. The film's synopsis reveals, "One day, he learns that to welcome a baby brother, his parents need to kiss. Since his feuding parents refuse to kiss, little Thomas takes it upon himself to make them perform the 'yucky' act!”
