Chennai, July 26 (NationPress) Renowned director Lokesh Kanakaraj, who is set to release his highly anticipated action film 'Coolie' featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, recently hinted in an interview about the potential for future collaborations with the iconic actor.
During a video interview, when asked about the likelihood of reuniting with Rajinikanth after Kaithi 2, Lokesh expressed, "... I am extremely enthusiastic about working with him again. Rajinikanth sir, after viewing Coolie, also shared his desire to collaborate on another project. However, we are uncertain about the timeline for this upcoming film. Both of us are eager to work together."
The director further revealed that certain segments of Coolie will focus on luxury watches. When questioned about a scene from the teaser featuring a line of watches, Lokesh confirmed, "We incorporated it into an action sequence. The film explores a watch factory and features luxurious timepieces valued in crores. Several scenes are centered around this theme."
Meanwhile, Coolie has already created buzz by achieving the highest overseas sales for a Tamil film so far.
Industry rumors suggest that Lokesh Kanakaraj's eagerly awaited action entertainer is poised to reach audiences in over 100 countries worldwide when the film premieres on August 14 this year.
Hamsini Entertainment, a significant player in international film distribution, is spearheading the film’s global release strategy. Sources indicate that with 'Coolie', Hamsini Entertainment is preparing for its largest release yet, targeting distribution across more than 100 countries, positioning it as one of the most extensive international releases for an Indian film.
In addition to Rajinikanth, the film features prominent figures from the Indian film industry, including Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan.
The music for the film has been composed by Anirudh, marking his fourth consecutive project with director Lokesh Kanakaraj. Girish Gangadharan is handling the cinematography, while editing is managed by Philomin Raj.
This film is particularly anticipated as it marks the reunion of actors Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth after nearly 38 years. The duo was last seen together in the blockbuster Tamil film 'Mr Bharath', released in 1986, where Sathyaraj portrayed Rajinikanth's father. Notably, Sathyaraj had declined roles in some previous Rajinikanth films like 'Enthiran' and 'Sivaji'.
'Coolie', which represents Rajinikanth's 171st film, will center around the theme of gold smuggling. Interestingly, director Lokesh Kanakaraj has confirmed that 'Coolie' will stand independently and is not part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
