Tamil actor Mahat Raghavendra has penned an emotional tribute to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay ahead of the release of Jana Nayagan, Vijay's final film as an actor before his full-time shift to politics. The heartfelt note, shared on Mahat's Instagram on 23 July, captures the sentiment of an entire generation that grew up watching the star on the big screen.

What Mahat Said

Addressing Vijay as 'Anna' — an affectionate Tamil term for elder brother — Mahat wrote, 'Dearest Vijay Anna, Tomorrow, Jana Nayagan releases, and my heart feels heavy. I grew up watching you. Your smile, your jokes, and your films filled my childhood with happiness. Every release was a celebration, and every visit to the theatre felt special because you were on that screen.'

Mahat also drew on a personal connection, noting that he had the privilege of sharing the screen with Vijay in the film Jilla, where he played Vijay's younger brother. 'That memory will always be one of the greatest gifts of my life,' he wrote.

The Farewell Sentiment

Mahat acknowledged that cinema would move on — new films would be made and new stars would emerge — but insisted that no one could fill the void left by Vijay. 'The magic of watching a Thalapathy film on the big screen is something I will miss forever,' he wrote. He concluded his note with the words: 'Your magic may leave the silver screen, but it will never leave our hearts. To us, you'll always be the one and only Ilaya Thalapathy... our forever Thalapathy.'
