Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 5 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Meera Kathiravan has revealed that actress Malavika Manoj, who stars in his highly anticipated romantic film 'Habeebi', portrays a character named Nilofer Nisha. Her affectionate nickname in the movie is 'Nilavu Pulla' (Moon Child).
Discussing Malavika Manoj's role, which follows her success in films like 'Joe' and 'Aan Paavam Polladhadhu', director Meera Kathiravan stated, “Malavika portrays Nilofer Nisha and is lovingly called ‘Nilavu Pulla’ by the other characters. When crafting this character, I envisioned someone who could reflect the essence of a girl from the 90s, showcasing different appearances across two distinct eras. After auditioning over 200–250 candidates, we found Malavika Manoj, who I believed was perfect for the role due to her expressive eyes.”
The director added, “Witnessing the support from her family and her fervent dedication to acting after her audition was truly inspiring. At that point, she had finished her Malayalam debut, 'Prakasham Paravatte', which had yet to be released. Her performance on set was remarkable. Since the character emphasizes non-verbal expressions and body language instead of dialogue, we were initially uncertain about her approach. However, she delivered an outstanding performance. Viewers of the film have praised her work, and the recent successes of her films 'Joe' and 'Aan Paavam Polladhadhu' have further enhanced the visibility of 'Habeebi'.”
According to sources from the production, 'Habeebi' is set to be a touching story that genuinely represents the life, culture, and emotional experiences of Tamil Muslims. Staying true to its title, which means “My Beloved,” the film will delve into themes of love, human connection, and real-life experiences.
The film is slated for a global release by Romeo Pictures Raahul, known for supporting both blockbuster films and meaningful, content-driven cinema. Notably, the film will also feature Kasturi Raja (father of actor Dhanush) in a significant role, with music composed by Sam C.S.
