Meera Kathiravan Reveals Malavika Manoj's Nickname in 'Habeebi': 'Nilavu Pulla'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 5 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Meera Kathiravan has revealed that actress Malavika Manoj stars as the lead in his highly anticipated romantic drama 'Habeebi'. In the film, her character is named Nilofer Nisha, and she is affectionately referred to as 'Nilavu Pulla' (Moon Child).
Discussing Malavika Manoj's role in the film, which follows her recent triumphs in 'Joe' and 'Aan Paavam Polladhadhu', director Meera Kathiravan shared, “Malavika portrays Nilofer Nisha and is lovingly called ‘Nilavu Pulla’ by the other characters. When creating the script and developing this character, I envisioned someone who could bring to life a girl from the '90s, displaying variations in looks over two distinct time periods. My team and I auditioned over 200 to 250 artists before discovering Malavika Manoj, who I believed was the perfect fit, particularly because the role required expressive eyes.”
The director added, “After her audition, we were thrilled with the support from her family and her deep passion for acting. At that time, she had completed her Malayalam film debut, ‘Prakasham Paravatte’, which was yet to be released. Once she joined our project, she captivated everyone on set. Since her character relies significantly on expressions and body language rather than dialogue, we were initially curious about her approach. However, she delivered an exceptional performance, earning praise from everyone who has seen the film. The recent success of her films like ‘Joe’ and ‘Aan Paavam Polladhadhu’ has further amplified 'Habeebi'.”
Insiders suggest that 'Habeebi' will present a touching tale that authentically represents the life, culture, and emotional depth of Tamil Muslims. True to the essence of its title, “My Beloved,” the film will delve into themes of love, human connection, and real-life experiences.
The film is set for a global release by Romeo Pictures Raahul, recognized for supporting both blockbuster hits and meaningful, content-driven cinema. Notably, the film will also feature Kasturi Raja, father of actor Dhanush, in a significant role. The musical score for the film has been crafted by Sam C.S.
