Mamitha Baiju shot 'Vishwanath and Sons' dance number at 103-degree fever
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Actress Bhavani Sre, who plays a brief but pivotal role in director Venky Atluri's blockbuster 'Vishwanath and Sons' starring Suriya, has revealed that co-star Mamitha Baiju powered through an energetic dance sequence while running a fever of 103 degrees — a disclosure that has amplified admiration for the actress among fans and the film fraternity alike.
What Bhavani Sre Said
Speaking about the film's shooting schedule in Ooty, Bhavani Sre recounted how a bout of flu swept through the crew during that leg of production. 'Actually, the Ooty schedule was like a holiday for us. Prior to that schedule, I had to shoot for four days in Hyderabad. I had fallen ill then. But I recovered and came to Ooty but by then, the team at Ooty was down with flu,' she said.
Despite her own earlier illness, Bhavani Sre singled out Mamitha Baiju's resolve as extraordinary. 'Mamitha's dedication was crazy. She did a fantastic job in the song which was shot then. She showed so much energy and her illness and her fatigue did not show one bit on her face,' she added.
Director Venky Atluri's Tribute
Bhavani Sre's remarks echo praise already on record from director Venky Atluri, who grew visibly emotional while speaking about Mamitha Baiju at the film's Thanksgiving meet in Chennai. Atluri called her 'a pure soul' and went further, saying, 'Mamitha, I told you in Hyderabad that if I really wish to have a sister, it will be you. Seriously. Because you are that one purest soul in acting. You are a very pure human being.'
Atluri also noted an unusual quality in the actress — a near-indifference to on-screen appearance in favour of performance. 'I've never seen a heroine worry about acting and care less about how they look. You never did. In fact, cinematographer Nimish used to ask you, 'Mamitha, touch up or take care of your hair.' However, she was only worried about acting. She is such a pure soul,' he said.

Why It Matters
Behind-the-scenes stories of this nature carry weight in the South Indian film industry, where audience loyalty is closely tied to perceptions of an actor's craft and commitment. Mamitha Baiju, already regarded as a rising talent, is likely to see her stock rise further as 'Vishwanath and Sons' continues its theatrical run. This is not the first time an actor's off-camera dedication has become a talking point that outlasts a film's opening weekend — it often shapes long-term audience connection and casting decisions.
