Veteran actor Satyajeet Puri has shared a behind-the-scenes memory from the filming of the iconic Bollywood song 'Meri Pant Bhi Sexy', revealing how co-star Rakesh Bedi used the shoot to quietly rehearse his theatre dialogues — even while dancing alongside superstar Govinda. Puri shared the anecdote in a video posted on his personal social media account, offering a rare glimpse into Bedi's unwavering commitment to the stage.

The Incident on Set

Puri recalled that during the shoot, the entire cast was naturally focused on Govinda, keeping pace with his choreography. 'We were concentrating on Govinda. Because Govinda is a good dancer. We were doing steps,' Puri said. It was amid this high-energy environment that he noticed something unusual about Bedi's behaviour.

'I used to see that Rakesh Bedi was not lip syncing the song but was murmuring something else. You can't see it in long shot. You can't see it in mid-shot. When the shot starts, he was singing something else. He would do that amidst shots, while having lunch, etc,' Puri recalled.

What Bedi Was Actually Doing

Intrigued, Puri eventually confronted his co-star. 'I asked Rakesh, what was he doing? Is he reciting a mantra? What is he doing? I asked him. I asked Rakesh what was he doing all day?' he recounted. Bedi's reply was matter-of-fact: 'I am memorizing my dialogues. I am doing a play. It is called 'Massage'. I am memorizing my dialogues.'

The play 'Massage', which Bedi had been rehearsing on set, reportedly began its run around 30 years ago and, according to Puri, continues to this day — a testament to its enduring popularity and Bedi's sustained dedication to theatre.

Puri's Tribute to Bedi's Craft

Puri was visibly moved by the memory, using it to underline what he sees as Bedi's exceptional professional discipline. 'You will believe me. That show started 30 years ago. It is still going on. I am very happy that after 'Dhurandar', people got to know him. He got recognition. And today, he is known as a very good actor. He deserves it,' he said.

The remarks carry weight coming from Puri, himself a seasoned figure in Hindi cinema who began his career as one of the industry's most recognised child actors before successfully moving into adult roles. He has appeared in films including Anuraag, Khoon Bhari Maang, Shola Aur Shabnam, and Dulaara, among others.
