National Award-winning director Venky Atluri has heaped praise on actress Mamitha Baiju, calling her 'a pure soul' and saying she would be his first choice if he ever wished for a sister. The remarks came at a Thanksgiving Meet held in Chennai on 19 August, where Atluri addressed media and crew following the release of his latest film 'Vishwanath and Sons', starring Suriya in the lead role.

Emotional Tribute at Chennai Event

Atluri grew visibly emotional while speaking about Mamitha Baiju during the event. 'Mamitha, I told you in Hyderabad that if I really wish to have a sister, it will be you. Seriously. Because you are that one purest soul in acting. You are a very pure human being,' he said, addressing the actress directly.

He also noted her singular dedication to her craft over her appearance on set. 'I've never seen a heroine worry about acting and care less about how they look. You never did. In fact, cinematographer Nimish used to ask you, 'Mamitha, touch up or take care of your hair.' However, she was only worried about acting. She is such a pure soul,' Atluri added.

Radhika Sarathkumar's Role in the Casting

Atluri also credited veteran actress Radhika Sarathkumar — who plays a pivotal role in the film — for steering him towards casting Mamitha Baiju. 'If not for your advice, I would not have gone Mamitha's way. You made me extra cautious. Thank you for that,' he told Sarathkumar at the event.

The director had thanked Sarathkumar for cautioning him to be careful about selecting the right heroine for the project — advice he says proved decisive.
