Chennai, Jan 18 (NationPress) Actor Manikandan, known for his upcoming film ‘Kudumbasthan’ (Family Man), shares that when the film's creators initially embarked on crafting a storyline, they aimed for an adventurous theme. However, they soon recognized that navigating family life today is an adventure in itself, leading them to focus on the narrative of a family man.

During a media interaction coinciding with the trailer release of this comedy-drama, Manikandan, acclaimed for his roles in ‘Jai Bhim’ and ‘Good Night’, recounted, “Two and a half years ago, director Rajesh approached me with a wedding invitation in one hand and a script in the other. He handed me the script and said, 'Read it and if you like it, come to the wedding.'

“I couldn’t review the script before his wedding. After the ceremony, I told him, 'I appreciate the story but I have prior commitments for two other films – ‘Lover’ and ‘Good Night’ – in between. If you can wait until I’m done, that would be great. Otherwise, feel free to share it with someone else.' He insisted that he would wait.”

The actor elaborated, “The writers initially aimed to create an adventurous film. We debated whether to depict thieves stealing gold from mountains, cowboys, or an action-adventure. Ultimately, we concluded that in today’s world, managing a family is an adventure, thus we focused on the challenges faced by a family man.”

“The script effectively portrays the mindset of a man earning approximately Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month, who, after purchasing new clothes for his relatives for Pongal, is anxious about making it through the remaining 15 days of the month. Upon reading the script, I could instantly empathize with his stress,” Manikandan expressed, adding that he believes audiences will resonate with it as well.

Directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy, the film features a talented cast including Manikandan, Saanve Megghana, Guru Somasundaram, R. Sundarrajan, Prasanna Balachandran, and Jenson Dhivakar, among others.
