Mumbai, Jan 5 (NationPress) Manushi Chhillar, crowned Miss World 2017, reminisced about the moment she assisted Miss South Africa, Adè van Heerden, just hours prior to the Miss World finals. In a recent YouTube video, where she recreated her iconic pageant makeup look, she recounted how Adè faced a wardrobe malfunction with her gown, which tore, and her backup outfit also failed. Observing her fellow contestant in distress, Manushi generously offered one of her gowns, which, fortunately, fit perfectly.
Reflecting on the hectic morning of the finals, Manushi stated, "The night before the finals, we underwent costume rehearsals to ensure we could walk confidently in our gowns, and timing was crucial. Unfortunately, Adè's gown ripped unexpectedly. I can't recall the specifics, but it certainly added to the stress. She had a second gown, yet when she tried it on the next morning, the zipper malfunctioned."
"I don't know what was happening that day, but I saw Adè looking quite disheartened the morning of the finals. I thought, 'I have several outfits. Why not let her borrow one of mine?' Luckily, the gown suited her beautifully, as if it was tailored for her."
As Manushi focused on helping Adè with fitting, she was unable to apply her makeup in time for the finals, ultimately finishing her look on the bus en route to the venue. "While I was meant to prepare for the finals, I was busy assisting Adè. I ended up doing my makeup in the bus on the way to the venue, which I take great pride in," the 'Maalik' actress revealed.
Amidst the chaos, Manushi triumphed, clinching the prestigious Miss World title and bringing pride to her nation.
