This film is a remake of the 1971 Uttam Kumar classic, Jay Jayanti, and is said to be inspired by the Bengali novel Rangeen Uttarain by Raj Kumar Maitra, as well as having elements reminiscent of the 1965 musical The Sound of Music.
The plot follows Ravi, a man in desperate need of work, who accepts the daunting task of teaching five unruly children who have scared off all previous tutors. As the story unfolds, Ravi develops a bond with the children and finds himself falling for Rama, the eldest.
Master Raju, whose real name is Raju Shrestha, made his film debut as a child actor in the 1970s. He has appeared in various films including Parichay, Bawarchi by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Daag: A Poem of Love by Yash Chopra, Chitchor by Basu Chatterjee, and Kitaab by Gulzar. Over his career, he has featured in approximately 200 films and numerous television shows.
He received the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 1976 for his role in Chitchor. Currently, he is seen in the youth series Ziddi Dil Maane Na, portraying the character Prem Deshpremi.
Master Raju last appeared in the 2005 mystery thriller Khamoshh... Khauff Ki Raat, directed and produced by Deepak Tijori, which is a remake of the 2003 psychological thriller Identity directed by James Mangold.
