Los Angeles, Sep 26 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey has addressed his potential candidacy for the position of governor of Texas. Currently, he is focused on personal priorities.
The star has not dismissed the idea of entering the political arena, yet he acknowledges the importance of his family commitments, according to reports from People magazine.
When questioned about his ongoing interest in a political future, particularly regarding the governor's seat in Texas, he shared with People, "I don't know. As I mentioned, it's something I've been exploring for about six years and continue to analyze. What does that field entail? How could I contribute? Would I be effective?"
He elaborated that politics isn't his usual domain but would become relevant if he felt an undeniable pull to it. "It would occur when I realize, 'Oh, I must do this,'" he said.
As noted by People, the actor, who features in Apple TV+'s The Lost Bus, considered a campaign for the governor's position in Texas back in 2021 but ultimately chose not to participate in the 2022 election cycle. With the 2026 elections approaching, he mentioned that any political ambitions might need to wait until his three children are older.
Matthew stated, "For the moment, I am content with my initial aspiration of being a father." He has a 17-year-old son, Levi, a 15-year-old daughter, Vida, and a 12-year-old son, Livingston, with his wife Camila Alves McConaughey.
"Let me focus on raising these three children to become healthy individuals as much as possible. Then, I will have more freedom to make choices regarding opportunities or decisions," he added.
