Mumbai, March 30 (NationPress) Actress Meenakshi Seshadri took a nostalgic journey as she reflected on the song ‘Hey You’ from the 1988 film Shahenshah, which was her debut collaboration with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Describing it as one of her initial item numbers, she fondly recalled this film as her first opportunity to perform alongside her beloved actor, Big B.

Meenakshi shared a video on Instagram showcasing her dance to the track, originally voiced by Asha Bhosle. In her reel, she noted that they opted for an outdoor location, capturing the performance amidst heavy rainfall in Pune. She expressed confidence that the song retains its freshness and allure even today.

She mentioned: “Hey You… This was one of the first item songs I performed in my career. Shahenshah was my first on-screen role with my favorite actor Amitabh Bachchan. The number had all the elements of a great song - superbly sung by the incomparable Asha Bhosle, complemented by an impressive set, fabulous costumes, and the stunning choreography by Kamal Master.

She further added: “When I chose to revisit this song for a reel, we moved the location outdoors. We filmed this amidst a backdrop of intense rain in Pune. Even now, this song feels perpetually vibrant and captivating! My choreographer Swara has deep roots in BharatNatyam but excels in various dance styles. Fahim and his crew have showcased their versatility through exceptional dance videography.”

“Let’s see if we can surpass our recent viral reels like ‘Tota mere Tota’. ‘Don’t say no’ Hey You! Stay tuned!”

Shahenshah, directed by Tinnu Anand, features Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, alongside Meenakshi Seshadri, Praan, Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Sharat Saxena, and Murad in supporting roles.

This film marked Big B's return to cinema after a three-year break during which he ventured into politics. Shahenshah emerged as the second highest-grossing Indian film of 1988, even amid stiff competition from Tezaab and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Its iconic dialogue, “Rishte Mein To Hum Tumhare Baap Hote Hain, Naam Hai Shahenshah,” became a cultural reference point, along with Meenakshi’s memorable performance.
