The film enjoyed a theatrical run exceeding 150 days, becoming the longest-running film in the United Arab Emirates with a record of 125 days. Initially, it held the title of the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever until it was surpassed by 'Pulimurugan' in 2016. For a decade, it remained among the top 10 highest-grossing Malayalam films until the release of 'Neru' by Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph.

Additionally, the film was remade in Hindi, retaining the same title, with Bollywood star Ajay Devgn in the lead role.
