Is the Release of Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 Facing Delay?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 20 (NationPress) According to industry insiders, the much-anticipated Malayalam film 'Drishyam 3', directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring the renowned Mohanlal, may see its release date pushed back.
The film is currently slated to premiere globally on April 2 of this year.
Sources indicate that due to the ongoing tense circumstances in the Gulf region, the production team might contemplate delaying the film's launch.
As of now, however, there has been no official confirmation regarding this potential change, and the release remains scheduled for April 2.
It's worth noting that Mohanlal completed filming his parts for 'Drishyam 3' last December. A celebratory video of him cutting a cake with the entire crew to mark the completion went viral.
The actor began this project just before receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in the previous year.
'Drishyam 3' is the third chapter in the celebrated franchise, which was officially announced during a traditional puja ceremony at a law college near Kochi last September.
In a pre-launch media interaction, director Jeethu Joseph shared that this installment would delve into the subsequent developments in Georgekutty’s life, the iconic character portrayed by Mohanlal.
“The narrative picks up four-and-a-half years later, focusing on the events that unfold in Georgekutty's life,” Joseph explained.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor, a long-time associate of Mohanlal and instrumental in the success of the Drishyam series, mentioned that the decision to proceed with the third film followed thorough discussions.
“The overwhelming response to the first two films convinced us that Georgekutty’s story still has more to tell. This new version was finalized only after detailed conversations with Jeethu,” Perumbavoor stated.
Filming occurred at various locations, including Thodupuzha and Vagamon, with the concluding five-day schedule set in Ernakulam.
The Drishyam films have cemented their place in Indian cinema with their compelling narratives, intricate suspense, and Mohanlal’s exceptional performance.
The inaugural film, which debuted in 2013, established new standards in Malayalam cinema, while its sequel, released in 2021, garnered record viewership both in theaters and on streaming platforms.
