Mumbai, June 10 (NationPress) Director Mohit Suri, acclaimed for works like ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Awarapan’, and ‘Ek Villain’, revealed his inspiration behind creating the romantic film ‘Saiyaara’.

In a recent conversation with IANS, he expressed his feelings of disconnection after observing a trend where action dominated Bollywood.

Mohit stated, “I felt somewhat adrift. After directing two thrillers in succession, I noticed that, with all due respect, everyone was focusing on explosions and action sequences. I had watched an impressive trailer but didn't feel compelled to see the film. If I wasn't interested, why would I expect the audience to be?”

He highlighted that the streaming series ‘The Romantics’ reignited his passion for romance in Hindi cinema, leading to the birth of ‘Saiyaara’.

“At that moment, while I was crafting something, I unexpectedly came across ‘The Romantics’, a fantastic documentary series that helped me rediscover the essence of a romantic hero,” he shared.

“I then approached my writer, who was also my assistant director, suggesting we should pen a romantic film. At that point, we had no producer, just the concept,” he added.

Previously, Mohit recounted an amusing incident during the song recording sessions when music composer Tanishk Bagchi humorously asked him to leave.

He told IANS, “The recording sessions turned serious while I was present. After I left, the fun began. Tanishk looked at me and said, ‘Sir, you should step out’.”

“He practically told me to leave,” Mohit laughed. “He realized that while the team was trying to impress me, they weren’t fully expressing themselves. Tanishk, being a strict taskmaster, was actually protecting them.”
