Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) Director A.R. Murugadoss, who is preparing for the launch of his next film Sikandar, has revealed the intricate process behind filming and editing the memorable scene from Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. In this scene, Akshay Kumar and his military comrades take on sleeper cells to prevent a terrorist attack in Mumbai.

Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty is the official adaptation of the Tamil movie Thuppakki, which featured Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role.

In an interview with IANS, the director detailed the logistics involved in shooting and editing this significant scene. When asked how he managed to film with the stars in crowded public areas, he explained, “During that time, there was no social media. Very few people recognized Vijay. We utilized hidden cameras, practiced extensively, and employed a multi-camera setup. Before anyone could notice, we would wrap up the shoot and move on to the next scene.”

The director also mentioned that while Akshay Kumar typically avoids filming on Sundays, he made an exception for this project, dedicating his time to shoot on that day.

He stated, “The filming took place across 12 locations, including a ferry, a local train, a bridge, and a theater. We filmed one scene each day, completing this sequence over 10 days. Although it is a single sequence, we edited 12 scenes together to create the entire sequence. We had about 3 hours of footage, which we had to carefully edit, employing a split-screen with 12 boxes. We then added power-lapse sound and music to produce a cohesive sequence that runs approximately 11 to 9 minutes with minimal dialogue,” he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Sikandar features Bollywood icon Salman Khan alongside actress Rashmika Mandanna in the principal roles.

The film is set for release on March 28.
