Mumbai, Aug 11 (NationPress) Actor Naveen Kasturia, who portrays a spy in the recently launched OTT series ‘Salakaar’, reveals that he lacks a fixed methodology for embodying his characters.
During a conversation with IANS for the promotion of ‘Salakaar’, he shared that his approach evolves with each character and narrative.
He stated, “I don’t adhere to a specific school of thought. Every project begins anew as you are exploring a fresh voice. Understanding that voice requires effort; there’s no set formula. Every time, the approach is unique, and there’s no consistent process. At times, you may need to read the entire script, while at other times, you might not even glance at it.”
He added, “It is contingent upon the expectations of the creator. I believe that by presenting diverse personalities on screen, something captivating will emerge. Co-actors need not follow the same process, at least not for me.”
Naveen is acclaimed for his authentic character portrayals, and his flexibility in approach is likely a significant factor that makes each of his performances distinct.
Previously, Naveen referred to his co-star in the series, Mukesh Rishi, as a gentle giant. He expressed that after watching Mukesh perform for so many years, he often became lost in his co-actor’s performances.
He remarked to IANS, “I relished working alongside him. I often got so absorbed in his performance that I lost track of my lines because I was enjoying it immensely. Upon meeting him for the first time, I found his presence quite formidable. If I were to hug him, my head would rest against his chest. Yet, off-camera, he is incredibly warm, kind, and gentle.”
Mukesh plays the role of the Pakistani military dictator, Zia-ul-Haq, in the series. Zia is central to many of India’s longstanding issues. He was the second Pakistani dictator following General Ayub Khan and played a pivotal role in shaping Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s strategy of “Bleed India by a thousand cuts,” declaring a prolonged conflict against India for Pakistan’s interests.
Subsequently, Zia orchestrated the framing of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, leading to his execution through judges he personally selected.
