Nazma Shaikh clarifies Rajpal Yadav was not shooed away at Mushtaq Khan burial
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Content creator Nazma Shaikh has set the record straight over viral claims that actor Rajpal Yadav was shooed away during the funeral proceedings of veteran comedian Mushtaq Khan, calling the circulating narratives deeply misleading and factually incorrect.
What Nazma Shaikh Said
In an Instagram video posted on Friday, Shaikh addressed the controversy directly, sharing the full context behind footage that had spread widely online. She stated: 'My name is Nazma Shaikh and what I am going to talk about today is about the prayer meet of Mr. Mushtaq Khan. People have spread such misconceptions that there is no limit to it. Now I will tell you the truth.'
Shaikh underscored the closeness between the two actors, saying Yadav had been present at every stage of the farewell — from Khan's final hours to the graveyard procession and the prayer meet. According to her, Rajpal Yadav was with Mushtaq Khan two hours before his death and remained by his side throughout the mourning rituals.
Where the Anger Was Actually Directed
Shaikh clarified that her visible frustration in the videos was aimed not at Yadav, but at attendees who were taking pictures and selfies indiscriminately at the solemn gathering. She said certain individuals were clicking photographs with actors including Mukesh Rishi, Upasana Singh, and Rajpal Yadav — behaviour she found inappropriate given the gravity of the occasion.
'It was not a selfie point, it was a prayer meet. My anger was directed at such people who were there only to click pictures without realising the kind of atmosphere they were in,' she said. She made clear that her displeasure was never directed at Yadav personally.
Appeal to the Media
Shaikh closed her statement with a direct appeal to journalists and content platforms, urging them to avoid running misleading narratives and to present the complete picture before publishing. 'I urge my friends in the media to not run misleading narratives, and please publish the whole truth,' she said.
The clarification comes amid growing concern over how partial video clips from emotional public events can be stripped of context and amplified as misinformation. The viral clips, according to Shaikh, had created a false impression that ran contrary to the deeply respectful presence Yadav maintained throughout the funeral.
