Taking to her Instagram account, Neha shared the story of a cherished gift she received from her late father-in-law—a vintage Indian cricket sweater that he donned during his illustrious career. She posted images of herself wearing his test cricket sweater, which has now become a precious family heirloom, imbued with both historical and sentimental value.
In her caption, Neha, who is married to actor Angad Bedi, expressed, “Wearing this sweater brings a unique warmth…I vividly recall when dad inquired about what I would like as a wedding gift; I told him the test cricket sweater would be the most special present for me … so here it is, along with his strength, resilience, integrity, and generosity. I also feel a profound sense of honor wearing this while attending my first test match in person … with my @angadbedi. We miss you every day, dad …”
The actress from Singh Is Kinng reminisced about the touching moment she received the sweater as a wedding gift.
“When I wed Angad, I had my heart set on one particular piece of memorabilia. It’s not merely a sweater; it’s a fragment of history that embodies the spirit and legacy of Indian cricket. I requested it as a wedding gift, and dad graciously granted my wish. To me, it symbolizes resilience, excellence, and an everlasting connection to the sport he cherished so deeply,” she shared.
Bishan Singh Bedi wore this sweater during numerous historic matches. In a heartfelt tribute to his memory, Neha chose to wear it this year while attending a Test match during the ongoing India vs Australia series.
Dhupia further conveyed, “I feel an overwhelming sense of pride and nostalgia wearing this sweater. It’s not just a keepsake; it’s a living reminder of the immense legacy my father-in-law has left behind. It signifies an era of cricket that was played with unmatched passion, grace, and integrity.”
For those unaware, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23, 2023. He had been facing age-related health issues and had undergone several surgeries in recent years.
