Nicole Kidman Nearly Departed from Acting After Welcoming Her First Child

Los Angeles, Dec 16 (NationPress) Hollywood star Nicole Kidman disclosed that she nearly exited Hollywood for good in 2008. After relocating to Nashville and giving birth to her first daughter with country music icon Keith Urban, the Academy Award-winning actress believed she was “pretty much done” with her acting career.
She expressed her desire to dedicate her full focus to her new family, as reported by Variety.
However, her mother intervened and encouraged her to continue. The actress recounted to CBS News: “When I gave birth to (Sunday Kidman-Urban), I thought, ‘Well, I think I’m pretty much done now.'”
She further elaborated, “We were living on a farm, and that’s when my mother advised, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep a finger sort of in it.’ I replied, ‘No, no. I’m done now. I’m done.’ She insisted, ‘Just listen to me. Keep moving forward. I’m not saying that you have to do it at the level you’ve been doing, but I wouldn’t give it up completely.’”
According to Variety, the actress took this counsel seriously, and just three years later, she received her third Oscar nomination for her lead role in Rabbit Hole. In the following years, Kidman starred in Just Go With It, Hemmingway & Gellhorn, Stoker, and The Railway Man.
“That insight came from a woman who belonged to a generation that didn’t have the opportunities I had, which she had helped create for her daughters,” she remarked. “So that’s probably something she wished she’d had when she was young.”
The actress is set to appear alongside Harris Dickinson in A24’s erotic thriller Babygirl. The movie centers on Romy (portrayed by Nicole Kidman), a successful CEO who jeopardizes her career and family when she engages in a romantic relationship with a significantly younger intern at her firm.
