Mumbai, Feb 10 (NationPress) As actress Nicole Kidman’s erotic drama “Babygirl” approaches its release in India, the Hollywood icon remarked that although she has starred in numerous sexual films, this one stands out as distinctive.

Directed by the celebrated Halina Reijn, Babygirl also features Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas. The film is set to hit Indian theaters on February 21.

Discussing the project, director Halina Reijn stated: “I truly resolved at the start to create a sexual film, as provocative as the ones I have always admired, but this time through a female perspective.”

Kidman described her experience on the film as remarkably unique, saying: “I’ve acted in many sexual films, but this is unlike anything else. Working on this subject with a female writer and director, who is also an exceptional actress, created an unexpected bond between us.”

She added, “Collaborating with a woman on this topic allows for complete openness and sharing.”

“Babygirl” tells the story of Romy, a high-powered CEO whose meticulously structured life begins to unravel when she engages in a daring and intoxicating affair with her much younger intern, portrayed by Harris Dickinson. The film explores the shifting dynamics of control and surrender, as well as the intricate themes of love, power, and the contradictions surrounding female sexuality in today’s society.

The film is brought to Indian audiences by PVR INOX Pictures.

“Babygirl” made its debut at the 81st Venice International Film Festival in August 2024, where Kidman earned the Volpi Cup for Best Actress, followed by a premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, leading to a broad theatrical release on December 25, 2024.
