Mumbai, Nov 3 (NationPress) Renowned actor Nitish Bharadwaj, famed for his legendary role as Lord Krishna in B.R. Chopra's 'Mahabharat', expressed his grief on social media over the passing of veteran actress Daya Dongre. In an emotional tribute, Bharadwaj fondly referred to her as his “second mother” and shared his sorrow at her loss.
He reminisced about the affection and warmth she offered him both on and off the screen, particularly during the filming of their Marathi movie, 'Khatyal Sasu Nathal Soon', which debuted in 1987.
The film featured notable actors including Laxmikant Berde, Varsha Usgaonkar, Nitish Bharadwaj, Daya Dongre, and Prema Kiran.
Nitish disclosed that Daya Mavshi, who portrayed his mother in his very first feature film, had remained an integral figure in his life.
“I grieve for my second mother, who consistently checked in on my well-being,” he expressed.
He also shared, “On-screen, she was often irrational and unfair, but in reality, she was a gentle spirit who prepared many delicious meals for me from her kitchen in Mahim. I simply had to mention what I craved, and it would be ready.”
Reflecting on their bond, Bharadwaj fondly recalled how Daya Mavshi continued to treat him as her own son long after their film wrapped up.
“She was the only one who could scold me after my mother passed away,” he noted, emphasizing the unique connection they had.
In contemplating her loss, Bharadwaj stated, “I grasp the philosophy of death, yet the absence of mothers creates an unfillable void… My heart aches once more today.”
He concluded with, “I share in mourning her loss alongside the Dongre-Dandekar families and pray for her soul to find SAD-GATI. Love you, Mavshi.”
His heartfelt message garnered numerous comments from fans and colleagues in the industry, all offering their condolences.
