The teaser for Operation Tral, director Ratheesh Vega's pan-Indian investigative action thriller, was released on Wednesday, 26 August, giving audiences across five languages their first high-impact look at Jayasurya's portrayal of a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer on a dangerous mission rooted in real events.

Released simultaneously in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, the sharply cut teaser establishes the film's tense atmosphere without giving away its central mystery. It introduces a world where investigation and national security collide, leaving audiences with pointed questions about the incident, the conspiracy surrounding it, and what the NIA officer will uncover.

Production house Goodwill Entertainments accompanied the release with the note: 'Not every operation earns a headline. Not every soldier asks for one. This one begins now. Inspired by the missions fought far from the spotlight — for a nation that never finds out.'

The Story Behind the Film

Operation Tral is inspired by true events and set against the backdrop of a fatal convoy ambush in Tral, Jammu and Kashmir. The narrative follows an NIA officer assigned to investigate the attack, pulling him into layers of danger, conspiracy, and unanswered questions. The film positions itself squarely as an investigative thriller where the pursuit of truth carries its own mortal risk.

Notably, this is Ratheesh Vega's directorial debut — a significant creative leap for a composer celebrated in Malayalam cinema. Vega has written, directed, and composed the film's music and background score, consolidating multiple creative roles on a single project.

The film's ambition is reflected in its production footprint. Operation Tral was shot across Kerala, Coimbatore, New Delhi, Kullu, Manali, Mussoorie and Ladakh, with cinematography by Najose and editing by Shafeeque V.B. The wide geographic spread signals an attempt to capture authentic terrain for a story rooted in the Kashmir valley.

Produced by Joby George Thadathil under Goodwill Entertainments, with Sunimol Joby as co-producer, the film is designed for a worldwide release across all five languages.

Jayasurya leads an ensemble that bridges Malayalam and Bollywood talent. The cast includes Murali Sharma, Vinay Rai, Siddique, Sai Kumar, Nandalal Krishnamoorthy, Rithika Singh, Kavya Shetty, Anson Paul and Sirajudheen, alongside Hindi film actors Vikram Kochhar, Yash Pal Gera, Mir Sarwar, Chandan Bisht, Hansika Jangid, Vaani Dogra, Jai Thakore, Vijay Trivedi and Manhar Singh Trivia.
