Character artiste Murali Sharma has been confirmed as part of the cast of the upcoming pan-Indian action thriller 'Operation Tral', the film's makers announced on 10 August — coinciding with the actor's birthday. The film stars Malayalam actor Jayasurya in the lead and is directed by Ratheesh Vega.

According to sources close to the production, Murali Sharma — celebrated for memorable performances across Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam cinema — will essay a pivotal role in the film. The birthday announcement is part of a phased cast-reveal strategy the makers have adopted for the project.

'Operation Tral' is described as an investigative thriller rooted in national intelligence operations. The film draws inspiration from a notable encounter between Indian armed forces and terrorists in Tral, Jammu and Kashmir, weaving together high-octane action, intelligence tradecraft, and a patriotic narrative. It has been shot across multiple locations including Kerala, Coimbatore, New Delhi, Kullu, Manali, Mussoorie, and Ladakh.

The film is produced by Joby George Thadathil and co-produced by Sunimol Joby under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments. Cinematography is handled by Najose, with editing by Shafeeque V B, sound mixing by M. R. Rajakrishnan, production design by Sajeesh Thamarassery, and art direction by Suneesh Sodharan.
