Los Angeles, June 26 (NationPress) Black metal icon Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that although he would be thrilled to collaborate with Sir Paul McCartney, there are factors that have prevented this from occurring.
The frontman of Black Sabbath, now 76, previously approached the Beatles legend, aged 83, to record a bass segment for a heavy metal track, but he declined. Nevertheless, Ozzy continues to dream of working alongside the 'Let It Be' star, according to reports from Female First UK.
During a recent episode of his SiriusXM show 'Ozzy Speaks', he was questioned by co-host Billy Morrison about his desired duet partner, to which he answered, “Paul McCartney”. He quickly added, “I would be honoured but I couldn’t”.
According to Female First UK, Ozzy has long been influenced by the legendary Liverpool band since his youth.
In a prior interview with Heat magazine, he recounted the experience of meeting McCartney as “f phenomenal”. He had been in the studio at the same time and attempted to persuade him to play bass on one of his tracks. McCartney declined, stating he couldn't enhance the existing bassline. Ozzy humorously responded, ‘Are you kidding? You could p* on the record and I’d make it my life’.
Ozzy has also expressed his desire to have collaborated with the late John Lennon.
He told 'The Sun', “John Lennon if he was alive. (I'm a) giant f** Beatles fan. And I’d have to have Jimi Hendrix, right?”
Ozzy's latest solo album, 2022's Patient Number 9, boasts an impressive lineup of guest artists, including his Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, and Chris Chaney from Jane's Addiction.
Ozzy is gearing up for his final performance with Black Sabbath at the Back To The Beginning concert at Birmingham's Villa Park on July 5, featuring special guests like Metallica, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Duff McKagan, and Slash of Guns N' Roses.
