Pooja Bhatt Marks 8 Years of Sobriety, Contemplates the True Antidote to Addiction

Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Actor and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt commemorated her eight-year milestone of sobriety after leaving alcohol behind.
The actress took to social media to share her profound journey, asserting that the true antidote to addiction is not merely sobriety, but rather connection.
On Monday, Pooja shared a heartfelt photo of herself along with the caption, “8 years sober today. Gratitude. Gravitas. Grace. 'You’re not alone, we love you' should resonate at every level of our response to addicts, be it socially, politically, or individually. For a century, we have been belting out war songs about addicts. I believe we should have been embracing love songs instead… because the true opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The true opposite of addiction is connection.” – Johann Hari #onestepatatime #onedayatatime #sobrietyrocks #soberissexy #soberliving #8yearssober #gratitude #gravitas #grace #johannhari #lostconnections #poojabhatt.
The star of ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin’ decided to quit drinking around 2016. Pooja Bhatt, daughter of renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, has been open about her battles with alcohol. She previously mentioned that her decision to stop drinking came after realizing she had fallen into the trap of addiction and understood that confronting it was the first step to liberation.
While participating in the reality show “Bigg Boss OTT 2,” the 'Sadak' actress openly acknowledged her drinking issues, which led her to confront her addiction and make the choice to quit.
Pooja also highlighted the societal differences in how addiction is perceived, especially for women, who often lack the same freedoms as men to discuss their struggles. She stated on the show, “Society permits men to openly discuss their addiction and recovery. Yet, women are less likely to do so. I used to drink openly, and when I decided to recover from alcoholism, I thought, why should I hide my recovery? People labeled me an alcoholic, but I chose to say, ‘I’m a recovering alcoholic.’”
