Chennai, March 10 (NationPress) Actress Pooja Hegde is lending her own voice to her character in director Karthik Subbaraj’s highly anticipated action film Retro, which stars actor Suriya in the leading role.
Continuing its tradition of sharing humorous and memorable moments from the Retro sets through comic strips, Stone Bench Films, the production company collaborating with Suriya’s 2D Entertainment, recently unveiled its fifth comic strip titled ‘EPI005: Vaazhga Tamizh! Challenge accepted! Pooja Hegde dubs for herself’ on its X timeline.
The production team elaborated on how Pooja Hegde was selected for the role and her determination to take on the challenge of dubbing her lines herself.
“During the casting process, several names were put forward, but it was Pooja Hegde who truly stood out. After a meeting, Pandiyaa declared, ‘This is the girl we’ve been looking for!’. The primary concern was whether she could speak Tamil fluently. However, Pooja, known for embracing challenges since her youth, confidently promised the team that she would manage this as well,” the production house stated.
“Following a successful look test, she commenced her daily Tamil lessons and astonished everyone by flawlessly delivering even lengthy monologue sequences. The team shared many entertaining moments on set, especially when they tested her with more complex Tamil vocabulary,” it revealed.
But the production team reserved the best update for last: “And here’s the exciting news! Pooja Hegde is dubbing in her own voice for the first time in a regional film. Her commitment and effort have truly borne fruit. We can’t wait to see this on the big screen!”
In addition to Suriya and Pooja Hegde, Retro, set to release on May 1, will also feature a number of stars including Malayalam actors Joju George and Jayaram, as well as Tamil actor Karunakaran.
