Preity Zinta Calls for Stricter Penalties for Rapists

Mumbai, Dec 18 (NationPress) Actress Preity Zinta, recognized for her performances in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, among others, believes that India should adopt more severe punishments for rape, akin to those in Italy.

On Wednesday, the actress took to her X account, previously known as Twitter, and shared a tweet from the official BRICS News account.

The tweet stated, “Italy moves toward legalizing chemical castration for rapists and pedophiles. Do you support this?”

In response, Zinta commented, “What a fantastic move! I hope @mygovindia considers a similar approach soon. What do you think, folks? It’s high time we establish zero tolerance for such heinous crimes.”

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization that includes nine countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Previously, the actress had posted on social media, sparking considerable discussion online.

She wrote, “Support the country you live in or live in the country you support. #ThoughtForTheDay”.

While she did not name anyone directly, many online interpreted her message as a veiled comment directed at Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh or politician Priyanka Gandhi.

One user remarked, “Thought for a lifetime for the Gandhi family.”

Another added, “Good thought. If one isn’t loyal to their own nation, showing support for another won’t be beneficial.”

A third user suggested, “This tweet is aimed at the Gandhi family.”

Another user even tagged Diljit Dosanjh in the comments.

Additionally, the actress recently shared a heartwarming moment of her son Jai making Indian flatbread, ‘Roti’. She posted three pictures on her Instagram with Jai and his grandmother.

In her caption, she expressed, “The best things in life are free. Like the joy of eating this Roti made by nani ma and our youngest chef Jai. Happy Sunday everyone.” Jai, the son of Zinta and her husband Gene Goodenough, was born in 2021 via surrogacy. The couple also has a daughter named Gia.
