New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) The globally recognized Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who expertly navigates between various industries and continents, expresses her ongoing ambition as she anticipates a new phase in her international career.
Reflecting on her path, the actress, who made her Hollywood debut in 2015 with the American television series Quantico, where she portrayed the lead character Alex Parrish, acknowledged that while she has ventured into nearly every genre within Hindi cinema, she feels she has “only begun to explore” her potential in English-language projects.
When asked what motivates her—validation, legacy, or the aspiration to create opportunities for others aspiring to transcend borders—Priyanka, known for her roles in Hollywood films like Baywatch, Isn't It Romantic, The White Tiger, The Matrix Resurrections, Heads of States, and the action series Citadel, stated in an exclusive interview with IANS: “I think it’s a combination of all of them. As an artist, I believe there is much more I can accomplish in my English-language endeavors. I feel like I haven't even begun to tap into my potential.”
“In my Hindi cinema career, I have explored almost every genre imaginable, and now I aim to replicate that in my English-language or international projects, regardless of the language,” she added.
The award-winning actress, who has received two National Film Awards and the Padma Shri, expressed her desire to create impactful characters and films that resonate with viewers, challenge cultural norms, and inspire change.
Priyanka aims to support compelling narratives like Born Hungry through her production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, which she established in 2015.
“Simultaneously, I want to champion extraordinary filmmakers like Barry Avrich, who has crafted an incredible story in a beautifully vulnerable yet technically adept manner,” she remarked, recalling her acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan.
“We've endeavored to achieve that with several films supported by Purple Pebble, such as Anuja, To Kill a Tiger, Ventilator, and Pani. We engage with diverse languages, and our company was founded on the principle of providing the support I lacked when I entered the industry,” she shared.
“We are passionate about amplifying narratives that deserve to be heard. We strive to provide a platform for artists—be they filmmakers, writers, or actors—who seek recognition on a global scale,” she concluded.
She emphasized that her commitment to backing filmmakers, writers, and actors needing a worldwide stage is central to her mission.
“Perhaps this stems from my own experience when I entered the film industry, unsure of where to go, whom to approach, or which doors to knock on. This may explain why I've taken on the projects I have and shaped my company with its current values,” she remarked.
