According to hospital officials, he was receiving treatment after a sudden health decline.
Reports indicate that he was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state and later pronounced dead due to suspected cardiac arrest following an ECG.
Mohan Niraula, President of the Film Artists Association of Nepal, informed IANS that Thapa's demise was attributed to heart complications.
“We are waiting for his relatives from Mumbai to conduct his final rites,” he added.
Nepal's Prime Minister Sushila Karki also expressed her sorrow over the loss, stating, “The Nepali and Indian film industries have lost not just a talented artist, but also a vital pillar with his passing.”
Before embarking on his acting career, Sunil Thapa began as a model in Mumbai during the mid-1970s and had a notable involvement in sports, including playing professional football for Bombay clubs.
