Mumbai, Dec 13 (NationPress) Choreographer-director Farah Khan has disclosed how she secured the college location for her film ‘Main Hoon Na’.

In a recent episode of her streaming series, Farah visited the residence of actor-turned-chef Armaan Jain, who is the grandson of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

During the episode, she revealed that the inspiration for the college came from ‘Mera Naam Joker’, directed by Raj Kapoor.

Farah explained, “I have borrowed many elements, and during my frantic search for a college campus, I suddenly remembered ‘Mera Naam Joker’. I was watching television when it came to my mind.”

She added, “I contacted Dabbu ji and asked, ‘Where is this place?’ This is St. Paul's in Darjeeling. I spent two days there, which is why we named it St. Paul's and Mehu—it’s the same school featured in ‘Mera Naam Joker’. I adore ‘Mera Naam Joker’.”

‘Mera Naam Joker’ is considered Raj Kapoor's most intimate and emotionally revealing film. It took years to create and came at a significant financial and emotional cost, embodying his belief that a performer must endure suffering to elicit joy in others. The semi-autobiographical story explored a clown’s persistent loneliness masked by public laughter, reflecting Kapoor’s own fears and ideals.

Despite its commercial failure upon release, the film had a lasting impact on Kapoor, who often referred to it as his “life’s greatest mistake” financially, yet his most genuine film emotionally. Over time, its profoundness, music, and ambitions led to its cult following and critical reassessment.

In related news, Armaan Jain was recently seen enjoying a meal with members of the Kapoor family during ‘Dining with Kapoors’, showcasing the family's close-knit relationships. The gathering reportedly included well-known figures from the extended Kapoor family and appeared to be a casual, family-oriented outing rather than a formal celebration.
