Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 20 (NationPress) The spouse of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, has received bail from a specialized Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court located in Mumbai concerning the Rs 150 crore Bitcoin scam.
The PMLA court mandated that Kundra furnish a surety amount of 1 lakh rupees. Additionally, the court has directed the businessman to seek prior consent if he intends to travel abroad.
Following his release on bail, Kundra responded to several media inquiries. When asked about his trust in the judicial system, he replied, "Absolutely." He further expressed, "Satyamev Jayate..."
He was also questioned regarding his decision to stop wearing a mask, to which he remarked that it was a different era, and now he intends to expose the true colors of others.
However, it remains uncertain whom he was alluding to.
It is worth noting that Kundra had consistently made public appearances while masked.
Last month, the special PMLA court summoned Kundra along with New Delhi-based entrepreneur Rajesh Satija, after observing that the prosecution's complaint and the case's records suggest their involvement in money-laundering activities.
Raj Kundra’s attorney, Prashant Patil, stated, "Raj Kundra has consistently cooperated with the ED since 2018. He is considering approaching the Honourable High Court to quash the summons issued in the ED case.”
For those unaware, Shilpa married Raj Kundra in a grand South Indian ceremony back in November 2009.
The couple is the proud parents of two children: son Viaan Raj Kundra and daughter Samisha Shetty Kundra.
Since their marriage, Kundra has also ventured into acting.
His initial foray was with the 2023 film, "UT69".
Kundra also participated as a contestant in Prime Video's reality series "The Traitors" but was eliminated on Day 2, finishing in 19th place.
His latest release was the Punjabi drama, "Meher", where he starred alongside Geeta Basra for the first time.
