Rajpal Yadav Celebrates 50 Collaborations with Bollywood Legends
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 3 (NationPress) Actor Rajpal Yadav proudly announces a significant achievement in his career, having completed a remarkable “half-century” of partnerships with acclaimed directors Ram Gopal Varma, David Dhawan, and Priyadarshan.
During an engaging discussion on filmmaker Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, Rajpal shared insights about his cinematic journey while enjoying a plate of mixed vegetable rice.
Farah revealed that Rajpal is set to star in a film titled 100 alongside her brother, Sajid Khan.
Rajpal expressed: “The fascinating part is that many of our shoots almost coincided but never did, yet our friendship has endured for so long. Your show visited Birmingham in 1997–98… my bond with Sajid and Suresh Menon goes back to that time.”
Farah reminisced about their first collaboration in the 1999 film Mast, which also marked the debut of Aftab Shivdasani.
“We filmed our first song in Ram Gopal Varma’s Mast. He played a waiter, and he often faced the brunt of scoldings,” Farah noted.
Rajpal humorously remarked that being scolded by Farah is a sign of good fortune, as such experiences often lead to stardom.
“I recorded my first song with you, and I had never imagined I would be doing songs. That was truly an extraordinary period,” Rajpal reflected.
Farah recalled their next project, the Salman Khan film Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya.
Rajpal humorously responded that in that film, she made him dance with crutches.
When asked if he considers himself a discovery of Ram Gopal Varma, he confidently stated: “Absolutely 100 percent.”
“Ramu has unearthed numerous talents,” Farah added.
“Ramu rescued me from the ‘villain jungle’… Imagine, while Hrithik Roshan was honored with the Best Actor award for Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, and Rakesh Roshan was awarded Best Director, Rajpal received the Best Negative Character award.”
He concluded, “Since then, the industry has bestowed so much upon me that even if I had 500 lifetimes, I wouldn’t be able to repay it. With each new release, I feel immense gratitude.”
Farah inquired if he has worked on 100 films with Priyadarshan.
“Now, I’ve reached a half-century with these three—Ram Gopal Varma, David Dhawan, and Priyadarshan.”
