Mumbai, Oct 11 (NationPress) Actress Rasika Dugal, who showcased her comedic talent in the black comedy ‘Lord Curzon Ki Haveli’, expressed her concern about the lack of written roles for women in comedic genres.
Rasika revealed, “I’ve always wanted to explore comedy, and black comedy seems like the ideal platform to do so. It enables me to discover humor even in uncomfortable situations,” she stated.
She emphasized that female-centric comedic roles are still uncommon.
“There aren’t sufficient roles crafted for women in comedic materials, especially those that place them in the spotlight. Women possess an innate sense of humor — how else would we navigate this patriarchal society?”
Directed by Anshuman Jha, “Lord Curzon Ki Haveli” was entirely filmed using a single lens. The cast also features Arjun Mathur, Tanmay Dhanania, and Paresh Pahuja in key roles.
Filmed exclusively in the UK, this Hitchcockian chamber drama offers a blend of suspense, humor, and sharp commentary on identity within the confines of an enigmatic evening. The film faced delays with Indian censors for over six months, as per reports.
The narrative revolves around a couple, Rohit and Sanya, who invite her friend Ira and her husband Basuki Nath over for drinks. Basuki soon becomes unhinged, believing the hosts are concealing something in a trunk.
Produced by Golden Ratio Films and First Ray Films, and presented by MAX Marketing Limited, this film has garnered considerable attention.
Additionally, Rasika began filming for the first schedule of the movie adaptation of the popular web series ‘Mirzapur’ in Mumbai last month.
A source close to Rasika, who reprises her role as Beena Tripathi in the “Mirzapur” series, shared: “Rasika has prepared extensively for the role and has seamlessly stepped back into Beena’s universe. There’s immense anticipation to witness the ensemble cast, but what's thrilling is how significant her role is becoming.”
The source further added: “From what we've seen, Beena Tripathi is set to introduce something unprecedented in the Mirzapur realm.”
Other cast members include Ali Fazal and Pankaj Tripathi, who will reprise their roles as Guddu Pandit and Kaleen Bhaiya.
There are also rumors that actors Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan have joined the cast, but their roles remain undisclosed.
