In an emotional discussion with IANS, Rego affectionately referred to Bappi Da as “flamboyant, vibrant, and larger than life.” Not only did Bappi Lahiri transform Bollywood music with his distinctive disco flair, dazzling gold chains, and contagious energy, but Rego also noted that his grandfather's most remarkable trait was his capacity to illuminate every space he entered. Motivated by Bappi Da’s legacy, Rego aspires to introduce a fresh perspective to the music industry.

He expressed, “Dadu taught me everything. One principle he consistently highlighted was humility. Despite being an enormous icon and an extraordinary artist, he remained incredibly grounded and compassionate. He would often say, ‘The more you grow, the more humble you must become. Listen to people. Take everyone along.’ That’s a principle I strive to uphold daily.”

Rego B, originally named Swastik Bansal, remarked, “Dadu was flamboyant, vibrant, and larger than life.” While I find inspiration in him, I also aim to inject a new wave into the industry—a different style, a fresh charisma. I believe as I release more songs, the excitement will build, and my unique identity will shine through as well.”

Following in the footsteps of his legendary grandfather, Rego B made his musical debut with his first single, “Yaara.” This track, which he composed and performed, celebrates friendship, encapsulating the heartfelt emotions and profound connections that define youthful relationships.

Discussing the song, Rego B shared, “My debut track, O Yaara, is very close to my heart—it’s an emotion for me. After finishing tenth grade, I reflected on all my friends had done for me. We were like family, always together. So, I felt compelled to create a song in honor of our friendship.”

“The inspiration struck after our farewell party. On my way home, a melody suddenly emerged in my mind—O Yaara. It felt haunting and beautiful. As soon as I got home, I grabbed my guitar and played it for my mom, who loved it. Composing the melody was effortless—I think it took only two minutes. Then, I reached out to my friend Apoorva, a talented lyricist, who crafted the lyrics. That’s how O Yaara came to life.”

Swastik, known by his stage name Rego B, made his singing debut at just 12 years old with the lively single ‘Bachcha Party.’
