Los Angeles, Feb 13 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger disclosed that she felt she was on the brink of death during her initial acting audition after fabricating her rollerblading skills.
The actress became captivated by acting while pursuing an English literature degree in college and ultimately secured an audition for a beer commercial by not being entirely truthful about her skating capabilities.
She recounted to The Sun: "I rented some rollerblades, gave it a shot, thought, ‘I’m definitely going to die'."
Discussing the audition experience, she explained: "(They said) 'Here, put on this bikini. Strap on these skates. Carry this 12-pack on your shoulder and start at the top of that hill'. Thank goodness they blocked the street below because if there had been oncoming traffic, we would not be having this conversation today."
"But it’s a really good way to leave the world if you’re going to exit. You know what I mean? Buried under a pile of beer."
Even with the rollerblading ordeal, Zellweger's acting career soared in the 1990s, leading to her breakout role alongside Tom Cruise in the 1996 film 'Jerry Maguire', according to femalefirst.co.uk.
The 55-year-old star mentioned that her acting career kept her so occupied that she lived out of a suitcase, not unpacking until she turned 41 and took a break from Hollywood.
When asked what advice she would give her younger self, Renee told The Guardian: "Girl, slow down. Moving from place to place, constantly living out of your suitcase – I never unpacked until I was probably 41."
She also emphasized that she has no regrets about taking a six-year hiatus from her film career.
"There was a lot to treasure ... I scrutinized myself. And because I wasn’t taking care of myself in my 30s, I didn’t make great choices all the time … It’s really easy to forget yourself in the mix."
