Mumbai, Sep 9 (NationPress) Esteemed actor Manoj Bajpayee has shared his thoughts on portraying Inspector Zende. He expressed that this role provides him with a unique sense of joy and satisfaction that he hasn’t experienced in his extensive career.
“Inspector Zende,” helmed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Om Raut and Jay Shewakramani, debuted on Netflix on September 5. Reflecting on his performance, he stated, “Over my 30-year career, I have portrayed various characters, including policemen, gangsters, and educators. Ultimately, it’s about the individual behind the role, not merely the attire. However, Inspector Zende is a character I’ve never embodied before; it’s quite different from who I am off-screen, where I tend to be more reserved.”
“I enjoy pursuing my interests, like reading and engaging with authentic news to develop my own understanding of the world. Playing Inspector Zende was immensely enjoyable due to the humor, quirkiness, and energy that the director encouraged me to infuse into the character,” he added.
Bajpayee continued, “Focusing on Zende was my utmost priority. As we approached the film's conclusion, I felt a sense of loss that it was coming to an end, as Zende had become so ingrained in my mindset. Yet, the memories created during this journey will always stay with me. Regardless of how many films I make, these remarkable experiences will define how I remember each film.”
In this series, Inspector Zende features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role alongside Jim Sarbh as Carl Bhojraj, a character inspired by notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj. The cast also includes Sachin Khedekar, Girija Oak, and Bhalchandra Kadam.
