Mumbai, June 15 (NationPress) Renowned actress Renuka Shahane has announced that she is currently developing a script, inspired by her husband and actor Ashutosh Rana’s sincere wish to be directed by her.
The actress and filmmaker disclosed that the concept is evolving, suggesting an intriguing partnership between the dynamic couple in the foreseeable future. In response to Rana’s desire to work under her direction, Renuka shared with IANS, “I am crafting the script. So, with any luck, I’ll one day be behind the camera while he performs in front of it.”
Previously, when questioned about the prospect of working alongside his wife, Renuka Shahane, on-screen, Rana expressed his strong eagerness to be directed by her. The 'Sangharsh' star mentioned, “Up until now, audiences have only witnessed us together in a marital setting. I wish for her to direct me as she is a remarkable actress, a skilled writer, and an outstanding director. I am enthusiastic about performing under her direction.”
Reflecting on her husband’s portrayal of Chand Bardai in the historical drama ‘Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’, the star of ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ expressed her admiration for his work.
Shahane conveyed, “I always appreciate what he does. He is such a phenomenal actor and an incredible personality. Everything he undertakes is marked by profound commitment and talent, making it a joy to watch him. I am a significant admirer of his work, and as his wife, I am very proud.”
“It’s a unique role he is playing as Chand Bardai. It’s interesting to see him in that light. He takes on more of a narrator’s role rather than being at the center of the main story. Nevertheless, I loved his look and everything about it; it’s truly delightful.”
On a different note, Renuka Shahane’s third directorial effort, “Loop Line,” a Marathi animated short film, is scheduled to be showcased at the New York Indian Film Festival 2025. This film, which delves into the challenges and neglect encountered by Indian housewives within traditional patriarchal households, is set to be screened on June 21.
