Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) Before the worldwide Electronic Dance Music (EDM) phenomenon took flight, Ritviz had already ventured into the genre. Originating from Darbhanga, Bihar, where EDM wasn’t prevalent, he finds it extraordinary to have established his own niche in the industry with his distinctive sound.

Reflecting on his initial encounter with the genre, Ritviz shared with IANS: “I first stumbled upon electronic music during my 5th or 6th grade when I came across a Tiësto bootleg—and it completely captivated me. This was well before the EDM boom really began.”

Ritviz, who provided his musical talents for the runway at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, expressed enthusiasm for exploring new sounds.

“As a schoolboy, I was thrilled by this fresh sound. I listened to it passionately, without realizing that one day I would start producing music myself,” noted the artist, who was recognized in Forbes India's 30 Under 30 list in 2021.

The 28-year-old artist, whose full name is Ritviz Srivastava, takes pride in his roots from a small town in Bihar, making a name for himself with hits like “Udd Gaye”, “Liggi”, “Mehfooz”, and “Thandi Hawa”.

“Coming from Darbhanga, Bihar, where electronic music wasn’t mainstream, it feels remarkable to have made my mark in the industry.”

He credits his background in Indian classical music for its “significant impact on shaping my sound.”

“When I began producing, it naturally fused the rich elements of classical music with the vibrancy of electronic beats, resulting in something unique. Reflecting back, it all began in those early school days—just a kid discovering a new auditory landscape and unwittingly laying the groundwork for my journey,” Ritviz stated, whose father plays the tabla and whose mother heads the Performing Arts Department at a school in Pune.

How does he stay updated with music trends, given that his style is quite distinct?

“I don’t actively attempt to keep pace with trends. I concentrate on what feels right to me, approaching everything in a very holistic manner. Because of this, whatever I create naturally embodies a very ‘me’ essence—something that mirrors my style and viewpoint,” he explained.

“I believe that if I remain faithful to what I love creating, people will resonate with it in their unique ways. So, instead of chasing trends, I simply focus on producing what truly resonates with me,” he added.

Discussing how runway performances like the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour differ from gigs and concerts, Ritviz remarked: “It's a wonderful fusion of the two realms I'm genuinely passionate about. Unlike my typical shows, which center solely around the music...”
