Los Angeles, Nov 8 (NationPress) Hollywood actor-director Russell Crowe recently reflected on a poignant moment of life coming full-circle involving Henry Cavill.
The duo is set to reunite in the forthcoming film ‘Highlander’ after nearly 12 years apart. They previously starred together in ‘Man of Steel’, where Russell portrayed Jor-El and Henry took on the role of Clark Kent/Superman. A decade later, they are collaborating once again for a reboot of ‘Highlander’.
Russell appeared on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast and shared his memories of meeting Henry when he was merely a teenager.
He stated, “I adore Henry. Our friendship spans a long time, dating back to when he was in school. I encountered him while filming ‘Proof of Life’ at Stowe School in England. During a scene where I was conversing with my son, I noticed a rugby match happening in the background. One player stood out with his exceptional understanding of the game. Once we wrapped the scene, I saw that same kid approaching me.”
He continued, “He wanted to chat and introduced himself, asking, ‘How does one get into acting?’ We had a brief exchange before being interrupted by other kids. A few days later, I was presenting a gift to the boy from that school who played my son, named Merlin Hanbury-Tennison. I then recalled that other kid’s name: Henry.”
Russell went on to write a personalized message on a photo from ‘Gladiator’, which had yet to be released. He inscribed, “To Henry, journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, Russell.”
“He cherished that photograph, keeping it with him wherever he went, nurturing his dream. The next time I encountered Henry Cavill was in a gym in Illinois, near Chicago. I was on one side while he was on the other, and I thought, well, I must be looking at Superman. We trained together for a week before we finally spoke.”
“One day, he approached me, extended his hand, and we began conversing. At one point, I asked, ‘Do I know you?’. He replied, ‘Yes, sir, you do.’ He reminded me of our past encounter. I exclaimed, ‘Henry? That Henry?’ It was surreal,” he added.
